Understanding a Short Sale (Real Estate)


The term “short sale” refers to the fact that the home is being sold for less than the balance remaining on the mortgage—for example, a person selling a home for $150,000 when there is still $175,000 remaining on the mortgage. In this example, the difference of $25,000, minus closing costs, and other costs of selling, is considered the deficiency.

About Me

I am no stranger to foreclosure. IN 2007, I was facing a foreclosure due to the collapse of the real estate industry. I was unable to pay my mortgage and was struggling with day to day expenses. I found it very difficult to work with the bank, and the lack of information related to the foreclosure process.


I often worried what would happen to my family next. I ended up selling my property in a short sale and was able to write off the staggering debt that I would have been left with. Since then, I have rebuilt my credit and my life.
